Amazon Australia names Matt Benham as new country manager
The news: Amazon Australia has appointed retail general manager Matt Benham as its new country manager, effective February 2026.
He will replace Janet Menzies, who has served in the role for the past five years, and was recently appointed as a technical adviser to Worldwide Amazon stores CEO Doug Herrington in Seattle.
The context: Benham has worked with Amazon Australia since the foundation of its retail business, bringing 25 years of experience in general management, sales and finance leadership across companies in Australia, UK, Europe and the US.
He joined Amazon in the UK in 2017 before relocating to Sydney to take part in the Australian launch.
What they said: "As we look ahead, my focus remains unchanged: delivering for Australian customers, businesses, and communities," Benham said.
"Whether it's through continued investment in infrastructure and innovation, expanding opportunities for local sellers, or creating quality jobs across the country, we're committed to being a positive force in Australia."
