ANA to buy 77 jets from Boeing, Airbus, Embraer

The news: Japanese company ANA Holdings will place orders for a total of 77 new aircraft from Boeing, Airbus and Embraer to meeting growing demand and boost medium to long term growth on its ANA and Peach branded routes.

The numbers: ANA said it will order 18 787-9 Dreamliners and 12 737-8 planes from Boeing. ANA will also order 24 A321neos and three A321neo XLRs from Airbus, and will become the first Japanese operator of Embraer’s E2 family aircraft, placing an order for 20 of the jets.

The total catalogue price of the 77 new aircraft comes to approximately USD14.41 billion ($22.7 billion).

The context: A statement by ANA on the purchase says that the total number of aircraft in the Group's fleet, including those already ordered and those to be ordered, will reach approximately 320 aircraft in FY2030, around 120 of the fleet being Boeing 787 series aircraft.

What they said: Koji Shibata, President and CEO of ANA Holdings said: “This order will be the catalyst for improving the profitability of domestic flights and the expansion of international flights which is an area of future growth of our airline business. We will fully utilize this opportunity in order to become an industry-leading airline with sustainable growth.”
