Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested following Jeffrey Epstein revelations
The news: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested by UK authorities at his home in Sandringham on Thursday during a police raid, on suspicion of misconduct following revelations about his relationship with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The context: A statement published by Thames Valley Police said a man in his sixties from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and that the man remains in police custody.
“We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time”, the statement continued.
Last week the force said it had been assessing evidence to decide whether to launch a full investigation against the former British prince.
Mountbatten-Windsor’s relationship with Epstein came under fresh scrutiny after the US Justice Department released millions of documents to the financier which portrayed a closer relationship between the two than had been conveyed by Mountbatten-Windsor.
It is unclear to which activities Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest is related.
