Anthropic eyes $15.2b Q2 revenue in first profitable quarter

The news: Anthropic is eyeing USD10.9 billion ($15.2 billion) in second-quarter revenue, positioning the Claude maker to book its first ever operating profit and push its valuation above rival OpenAI.

The context: Anthropic disclosed the figures to investors as part of an ongoing funding round. The company generated USD4.8 billion in sales during the first quarter, outpacing the pre-IPO growth of Google and Facebook, as well as Zoom’s pandemic-era expansion.

The company, however, said it does not expect to achieve a full-year profit until at least 2028, as it plans spending increases to support its vast computing needs.

This comes as OpenAI and SpaceX race toward their highly anticipated public listings, with both companies filing their registration statements on Wednesday (ET).
