The news: Claude AI maker Anthropic is in preliminary discussions with investors to raise at least USD30 billion ($41 billion) in fresh financing, according to Bloomberg.
The context: The company is in talks to raise new capital at a valuation of more than USD900 billion, with the round expected to be finalised by the end of the month. However, the deal has not yet been closed and no term sheet has been signed.
This comes as Anthropic plans to ramp up fundraising amid the breakout success of its AI software, after Bloomberg reported that is considering an initial public offering in October.
