ANZ appoints Trevor Vail and Michael Peric as co-MDs for markets
The news: ANZ has appointed Michael Peric and Trevor Vail as co-managing directors of its markets division, reporting to institutional group executive Mark Whelan.
The context: Peric and Vail have been jointly leading ANZ’s markets business in an acting capacity since September 2025. They will continue to be based in Sydney and Singapore respectively.
Peric has led ANZ’s global balance sheet trading business since 2021. He held senior banking positions in key financial institutions across Australia and New Zealand including at Lloyds, National Australia Bank and Bank of New Zealand.
Vail has worked at ANZ for 13 years, most recently as head of markets in Australia and the head of rates and credit trading. Before joining ANZ, he was the managing director head of flow credit trading Asia for the Royal Bank of Scotland.
ANZ has the largest markets business among Australian banks, with a major hub in Singapore.

“They have the leadership capability and experience needed to further strengthen ANZ’s leading foreign exchange, rates, capital markets and commodities businesses, as well as strengthening our risk management.”
