Aristocrat Leisure gaming CEO resigns to join rival

The news: Aristocrat Leisure has announced that its gaming chief executive Hector Fernandez has resigned from the role and will move to a unnamed competitor.

The context: Aristocrat gaming chief financial officer Craig Toner has been appointed to replace Fernandez, effective immediately.

Fernandez had been at Aristocrat since 2018 and started as CFO of the Americas gaming business. The company noted that his relevant contractual obligations include a 12-month non-compete obligation.

Toner has been with Aristocrat for over seven years and prior to that worked at alcohol and beverages business Lion in Australia for almost 20 years.

What they said: Aristocrat CEO and managing director Trevor Croker said: “Craig will ensure a seamless leadership transition, maintaining a relentless customer focus, and continuing to execute our plans”.

“... We thank Hector sincerely for his commitment and recognise his contribution to our business over the last six years.”
