The news: ARN Media flagged a $28 million decline in metropolitan revenue for 2025 driven by a campaign to boycott The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

The context: This comes after an on-air dispute between hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on 20 February, which resulted in the termination of both their contracts. This has led to separate lawsuits from Henderson and Sandilands amid “unlawful termination” claims.

ARN reported a 10% year-on-year decline in revenue to $285 million for FY25, driven by a 16% plunge in metropolitan radio revenue. The company attributed the drop to a tougher advertising environment and clients opting out due to brand safety concerns linked to the controversy surrounding The Kyle and Jackie O Show and an activist-led boycott.

However, the company expects brand safety to stabilise in FY26 as it focuses on improving its metro radio revenue.
