ARN Media settles with Kyle Sandilands for $12m
The news: ARN Media has agreed to pay former The Kyle and Jackie O Show co-host Kyle Sandilands $12.09 million in a binding settlement, following a wrongful termination lawsuit he launched earlier this year.
The context: The settlement follows ARN Media’s decision to take the Kyle and Jackie O show off air “effective immediately” in March after Jackie “O” Henderson stated she could no longer work with Sandilands, prompting the company to terminate his contract over alleged serious misconduct.
ARN confirmed that the agreement provides a full and final resolution of all claims and counterclaims between the parties, with Sandilands to not be providing any services to the company moving forward.
As part of the settlement, ARN will provide Sandilands with $1.5 million in advertising services on its partner platforms over the next three years. In return, ARN has secured a 19.9% net revenue share from Sandilands’ new media venture for up to three years.
Legal proceedings brought against ARN by Jacqueline Henderson remain ongoing.
What they said: “ARN remains focused on executing its strategy, including driving a leaner, more efficient operating model, strengthening its core radio network and continuing to invest in digital capabilities and long-term growth,” CEO Michael Stephenson said.
