The news: Shares in ASX-listed uranium miners have jumped in early trading after Reuters reported that US President Donald Trump will sign executive orders to jumpstart the US nuclear energy industry.

The numbers: Shares in Boss Energy soared nearly 10% to $3.90, while peers Paladin Energy and Deep Yellow rose 9% and 7.4% respectively on the news. The three stocks were the best performers across the ASX 200.

The context: The Reuters report, citing unnamed sources, said Trump would likely sign executive orders on Friday to ease regulatory processes on approvals for new reactors and strengthen fuel supply chain.

Trump had declared an energy emergency on his first day in office due to rising power demand from a boom in artificial intelligence.

The report said a draft summary of the orders encouraged the US Energy Department to use loan guarantees and direct loans to increase the build out of reactors.
