Aussie Broadband shares gain after new CEO named
More news: Shares in Aussie Broadband are up 1.4% to $3.69 in early trading on the ASX after falling more than 6% at market open.
Today, the telecoms firm named CEO Brian Maher as the head of the group to replace retiring co-founder Phillip Britt. He will assume the new role from 1 March.
Aussie Broadband appoints Brian Maher as group CEO
The news: Aussie Broadband has appointed Brian Maher as group chief executive officer after managing director and co-founder Phillip Britt’s decision to retire.
The numbers: Maher will start his new role from 1 March and is currently Aussie Broadband's CEO. He joined the company in 2019 as chief financial officer.
Britt will step down from his position on 28 February, and will start a new role as non-executive director and special technical adviser from 1 March.
The context: The telco group said Britt was stepping down to pursue a personal community-focused venture in regional Victoria, but would continue to provide his knowledge, experience and technical insight to the company, and remain a substantial shareholder.
Maher previously held senior positions in health insurer AHM, Localagentfinder, and Suncorp Group.
