The news: Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has appointed Jenny Wei as general Manager for Australia and New Zealand.

The context: Wei will bring more than 18 years of experience across Australia’s regulated financial services sector.

Based in Sydney, she led the establishment and growth of the Australian operations for Ebonex, a cryptocurrency over-the-counter (OTC) desk.

Wei previously spent 13 years at Western Union across international payments and global financial markets.

What they said: “Australia remains an important market for Binance,” said co-CEO Richard Teng.

“Jenny’s appointment supports our ongoing work in the region to provide a safe, reliable and compliant exchange for users while engaging and evolving with the broader ecosystem.”

Wei commented: “Australia has one of the world’s most sophisticated and highly regulated financial services environments.

“As digital assets continue to mature, long term growth in the sector will depend on strong governance, regulatory engagement, a genuine commitment to compliance and continued collaboration across the ecosystem.

“I look forward to working closely with the team across Australia and New Zealand to strengthen our local operations, uphold high standards of compliance and risk management, and continue building a trusted and sustainable platform for our users, partners, and the broader community.”
