The news: Law firm Bird & Bird has announced two partner appointments, with disputes lawyer Bill Smith joining from Ashurst and restructuring partner Masi Zaki joining from Squire Patton Boggs, alongside senior associate Kate Spratt.
The context: Both Smith and Zaki were partners at their previous firms.
The partner announcements come as Bird & Bird's Sydney office celebrates its 10-year anniversary this week.
What they said: Shane Barber, head of Bird & Bird in Australia, said: "Bill brings with him valuable international disputes expertise, which will be a cornerstone in supporting clients both in Australia and the Middle East, and Masi will be a key player in developing our restructuring practice with support from Kate".
