Boss Energy to start shipping uranium from Honeymoon project
The news: Boss Energy says it will start deliveries from its Honeymoon uranium project in South Australia with initial production running ahead of the ramp up schedule.
The numbers: The company said it produced 57,364 pounds of triuranium octoxide by June-end, and will now make its first delivery to European nuclear facilities under existing sales contracts.
Production will be ramped up to 850,000 lbs by June 2025, with the project to eventually produce up to 2.45 million lb of uranium triuranium octoxide a year.
The context: The announcement comes a few months after Boss Energy announced the first production at Honeymoon, confirming the project’s technical and operational success.
Last month, the company also started production at the Alta Mesa uranium project in Texas in which it owns a 30% stake.
Boss Energy shares are up by a third over the past 12 months, boosted by the rising price of uranium as its popularity has grown with national governments looking for diversified solutions to meet emissions targets.
