The news: Logistics solutions giant Brambles has announced that non-executive director Cameron McIntyre will step down from the board at the company's annual general meeting on 23 October, following his appointment as REA Group's next chief executive.

The context: Former CAR Group boss McIntyre was appointed to the Brambles board on 1 November 2024. He is set to start his new role at News Corp-controlled real estate platform REA on 3 November.

Brambles chair John Mullen said the board does not intend to recruit a replacement for McIntyre, commenting: "I am confident that the board will continue to have the required skills mix to support Brambles' strategic goals".

What they said: "Following his appointment as CEO of REA Group, Cameron has carefully considered his professional commitments and has chosen to focus fully on his new executive responsibilities," said Mullen.

"We respect his decision, thank him for his contribution to Brambles and wish him every success in the new role."
