The news: Logistics company Brambles has appointed chief digital officer Helen Lane as its new CEO for its Europe business, and has recruited McKinsey partner Louise Herring as her replacement.

The numbers: Lane will start her new role from 11 November. She has been with the company since 2003 and became vice president for the Northern Europe business in 2016.

The context: Herring currently leads Quantumback, AI by McKinsey in the UK, Ireland and Israel, and was an adviser to Brambles between 2021 and 2023. She will also start her new role on 11 November.

The changes follow a shake-up at the pallets and containers supplier earlier this year, after the newly-appointed CEO of its Americas business, Xavier Garijo, left after six months due to "cultural differences".

It prompted then Europe CEO, David Cuenca, to assume the role of CEO of CHEP North America.
