Brickworks long time CEO Lindsay Partridge to retire
The news: Construction materials supplier Brickworks’ long time managing director Lindsay Partridge will step down from the role and will be replaced by current chief operations officer Mark Ellenor as CEO.
The numbers: Partridge has served as Brickworks CEO since 1999 and managing director since 2000. The company said he will retire on 31 July after 39 years with the company.
The context: Ellenor, who started as a graduate employee in 1999, has been named his successor. He has been president of the North American business for five years, and then assumed the role of general manager for building products in August 2022 before moving to his current COO role in August 2023.
Under Partridge, Brickworks expanded from a $500 million brick maker to a multinational company with an asset base of $6 billion. The company posted a first-half loss last month on the back of revaluations in its property portfolio and softening demand in a slowing economy.
