The news: Commonwealth Bank group executive technology and group chief information officer Gavin Munroe will leave the bank on 22 December 2025 to “explore other opportunities”, the company told the exchange.

The context: Munroe will be replaced in the interim by two co-leads of the technology function. Subject to regulatory approval, Rodrigo Castillo will serve as chief information officer central technology while Victoria Ledda will serve as chief information officer business technology.

Castillo is currently chief technology officer while Ledda is chief information officer retail and wealth banking and is an executive board member.

Munroe joined Commonwealth Bank in November 2022 and oversaw the transfer of its SAP core banking platform to AWS. He has served in executive tech roles at HSBC, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Synechron.

What they said: “Looking ahead, we will continue to execute our established technology strategy and embed the use of AI throughout the organisation with the aim to drive better experiences for customers. We thank Gavin for his contribution and wish him well for the future,” Commonwealth Bank CEO Matt Comyn said.
