CFA Institute launches Australian diversity code
The news: The CFA Institute and the CFA Society Australia have launched an Australian version of its voluntary diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) code that member investment firms can sign onto to illustrate their commitment to diversity.
The numbers: Iterations of the code have already been launched in the US, Canada, UK and the Netherlands and have been adopted by 200 investment management firms, representing 30% of all global assets under management.
The context: The code consists of six metric-based indicators of diversity, equity and inclusion that signatories commit to, which cover the expansion of hiring, promotion and leadership potential for diverse talent.
Several Australian investment firms including HESTA, VFMC and the Future Fund as well as the University of Sydney and Future IM/Pact worked with the CFA Institute to develop the code.
The CFA oversees the Chartered Financial Analyst certification program, which is one of the most stringent qualifications an investment management professional can obtain.
