Challenger poaches Aware Super's Damian Graham for new group CIO role
The news: Investment manager Challenger has poached Aware Super's chief investment officer Damian Graham, who will start in the newly created role of group CIO in January 2026.
The numbers: Challenger shares were down 1.1% to $9.06 at midday AEDT. The stock is up 52% over the last 12 months.
The context: Challenger said its Challenger Life and Funds Management investment teams will be integrated into a single unit under the new group CIO. The move aims to bring "closer alignment of investment capabilities and operating entities", the company noted.
Graham will join Challenger from Aware Super, where he has served as CIO since 2016. He previously worked for StatePlus, Macquarie Group and JP Morgan.
