The news: Workers at two of Chevron's Australian LNG facilities are planning a two-week total strike from mid-September, according to unions, as an industrial dispute over pay and conditions continues. The moves would be a further escalation from partial outages planned from Thursday this week.

The numbers: Chevron's Gorgon and Wheatstone projects account for more than 5% of global LNG exports, with production capacities of 15.6 million tonnes and 8.9 million tonnes per year respectively. A two-week shutdown could cut Australian LNG output by 1.1 million tonnes, according to Bloomberg. LNG prices were mostly unmoved by the news, up about 0.2% since this morning.

The context: Australia's Fair Work Commission is hosting mediation talks between Chevron and union representatives every day this week. Limited protected industrial action is set to begin on Thursday, with unions planning up to 11-hour stoppages until 14 September if talks cannot be resolved.
