The news: Hearing implant maker Cochlear has named Sarah Thom as its new chief financial officer to replace incumbent Stu Sayers.

The numbers: Thom, who is currently managing director of BCG’s health care business in Australia and New Zealand, will join the company in November and take up her role on 1 January, 2025.

She will replace Sayers, who will take up his new role as president of Asia Pacific and Latin America businesses from 1 January.

The context: The latest appointment follows changes to Cochlear’s executive team that were announced in July, with the company replacing two of its global presidents, with Sayers taking up one of those positions. At the time, Cochlear said an executive search was underway for a new CFO.

Last month, the hearing implant maker reported a full-year underlying net profit of $386.6 million, at the lower end of its guidance.
