The news: KFC franchise owner Collins Foods has signed a binding asset purchase agreement to acquire eight KFC restaurants located in Germany as part of its expansion plan, valued at EUR31.1 million ($50.3 million). Completion is expected between May and June 2026.

The context: The acquisition will take place across the state of Bavaria in Munich. The restaurants are being purchased from JJ Restaurant GmbH & Co.

The deal aligns with Collins Foods’ previously announced strategy to establish Germany as its second strategic growth market and will expand its German portfolio by around 50%. The company is targeting between 45 to 90 new restaurants over the next four years.

Collins Foods has also signed a revised corporate franchise agreement with Yum! Brands to extend its operations in the Netherlands by three years to 31 December 2029.

What they said: “The acquisition of a high-quality KFC portfolio in Bavaria will provide us with a platform to expand in one of Germany’s most populated and wealthiest states,” Collins Foods CEO Xavier Simonet said.

“The acquisition meets the financial hurdles that guide our investment decisions, with the network to be acquired operating at higher margins than our existing German restaurants,” he added.
