Current and past PwC execs called to front parliamentary ethics hearing

The news: PwC has been called to front a parliamentary committee into ethics and professional accountability.

The context: The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services has requested current and former employees of PwC Australia to attend.

They include:

  • Kevin Burrowes, CEO;
  • Jan McCahey, chief risk and ethics leader;
  • Kylie Gray, general counsel;
  • Chris Morris, tax and legal leader;
  • Paddy Carney, Partner, global board member;
  • Mohamed Kande, global chair;
  • Luke Sayers, former CEO;
  • Tom Seymour, former CEO; and
  • Meredith Beattie, former general counsel.

Ziggy Switkowski, author of the ‘Review of governance, culture and accountability of PwC Australia', has also been requested to attend.

The Inquiry into Ethics and Professional Accountability: Structural Challenges in the Audit, Assurance and Consultancy Industry commenced on 22 June 2023 due to recent allegations and responses to misconduct in the Australian operations of major accounting, audit and consultancy firms.
