Deep Yellow names Rio Tinto's Greg Field as next CEO
The news: Uranium miner Deep Yellow has appointed former Rio Tinto executive Greg Field as its new managing director and CEO, starting "no later" than 1 May 2026.
The context: Field has been managing director for project development at Rio Tinto since 2023, after a 10-year stint at the mining giant in various executive roles between 2008 and 2018.
Deep Yellow announced the departure of long-serving managing director and CEO John Borshoff last month.
What they said: "Greg brings considerable execution skills and extensive experience in delivering multiple large-scale resource projects which will further complement the existing expertise in the broader Deep Yellow team," said executive chair Chris Salisbury.
"The company's strategy remains unchanged, and we will continue the orderly derisking of the Tumas Project whilst also watching the uranium market develop the conditions necessary to support greenfield development."
