The news: HMC Capital's DigiCo Infrastructure REIT has appointed AirTrunk's former deputy chief executive Michael Juniper as its new CEO, effective immediately.

He will replace current CEO Chris Maher, who will transition to a newly created government relations role for HMC Capital.

The context: The data centre investor added Juniper to its board in September. He previously spent nine years at Blackstone-owned rival AirTrunk. In his new role he will also serve as managing director of digital infrastructure of HMC Capital.

Maher will transition to the role of managing director, group head of government and strategic programs at HMC Capital, commencing early January 2026. He left DigiCo's board in October to balance the number of independent and non-independent directors.

"Government engagement is critical in this sector as regulation around AI, data, energy and critical infrastructure evolves," the company said this morning.

"At this time of changing policy and regulatory settings, it is essential that DGT navigates these issues hand-in-hand with customers and stakeholders. Chris's new role is designed to strengthen this capability."

What they said: DigiCo chair Joseph Carrozzi commented: "We are pleased with the appointment of Michael to lead the next phase of DGT's strategy. His exceptional track record in building hyperscale platforms across the region makes him uniquely qualified to guide DGT through the growth ahead."

"We thank Chris for his leadership and contribution to DGT, having led the company through its IPO and foundation period as a listed entity."
