The news: Global asset manager Dimensional Fund Advisors has launched three managed ETFs directly on the ASX after decades of sharing its investment approach through intermediaries.

The numbers: US-based Dimensional has been operating in Australia since 1994, and has been offering its investment approach through financial intermediaries for more than two decades. It manages more than $900 billion for clients globally, including $38 billion for clients in Australia and New Zealand.

The context: Dimensional is initially offering three managed strategies under the new ETFs: Australian Core Equity; Global Core Equity (Unhedged) and; Global Core Equity (AUD Hedged). The investments will be available in 'dual-access' via ASX-listed or unlisted distribution channels.

What they said: “Our success in the US and our discussions with local clients tell us that some prefer the flexibility that ETFs offer," head of Dimensional's Australia client group Nathan Krieger said in a statement.

"It just gives advisers and other intermediaries more ways to access what we do."
