Don Lindsay appointed to BHP board as Ian Cockerill departs
The news: Former Teck Resources CEO Don Lindsay will join resources giant BHP’s board following the exit of Ian Cockerill as non-executive director.
The numbers: Cockerill will retire from the board on 4 April, following his appointment as CEO of Toronto Stock Exchange-listed gold producer Endeavour Mining. He has been a BHP director since April 2019. Lindsay will join the board on 1 May.
The context: Lindsay was CEO of Canadian copper and zinc miner Teck Resources from 2005 to 2022 and has previously served in senior roles at CIBC World Markets. His appointment comes a week ahead of outgoing NAB chief executive Ross McEwan joining BHP’s board from 3 April.
