Downer names new board members as long-serving Teresa Handicott retires

The news: Engineering and services contractor Downer EDI has announced the retirement of long-serving non-executive director Teresa Handicott.

The company has also appointed Kerry Gleeson and Annette Carey to its board as part of its ongoing board renewal program.

The context: Handicott will retire from Downer's board at the company's annual general meeting in November. She has served on the board since September 2016.

Gleeson, who will join the board on 1 September, is currently chair of ASX-listed gold miner St Barbara and a non-executive director of Australian Strategic Metals and Chrysos Corporation.

Carey previously spent five years as CEO of Linfox Logistics and Linfox Armaguard. She is the former chair of Australia Post Global and remains a non-executive director of ASX-listed Sigma Healthcare and Kinetic Group. She will join Downer's board on 1 November.
