DroneShield shares extend losses as counterdrone rally unwinds

The news: Counterdrone technology manufacturers DroneShield and Electro Optic Systems saw their share prices slump as a huge rally earlier in the year continues to unwind.

The numbers: At 1:22pm AEDT, shares in DroneShield had slipped 11.4% to $3.41 but were still up 354.7% in 2025. Meanwhile, rival Electro Optic Systems had fallen 7.9% to $5.18 but up 295.8% in the year to date.

ASX-listed Israeli drone communications system producer Elsight had fallen 6.2% to $1.36 but was up 257.9% in the year to date.

The context: There was no company specific news relating to DroneShield, Electro Optic Systems or Elsight on Thursday.

Defence stocks also fell in the US overnight, with the S&P Aerospace & Defence Select Industry Index falling 1.5%, now down 4.2% in the month to date.
