The news: Agriculture and real estate group Elders has agreed to sell its NSW-based beef production facility Killara Feedlot to Australian Meat Group for $195.8 million.

The numbers: The integrated grain-fed and grass-fed site in the Liverpool Plains region of NSW has a combined annual throughput of 62,000 head of cattle, and sits on 1,402 hectares of freehold land.

Killara contributed $12.1 million to Elders’ underlying EBIT in FY25, and the non-working capital assets of the subsidiary totalled $45.5 million at 30 September 2025.

Elders has carried forward capital tax losses of $107.4 million to full offset the capital gain arising from the planned transaction.

The net impact to earnings per share for Elders is expected to be less than a 1% reduction.

The context: Elders expects the sale, which is subject to approval from the Foreign Investment Review Board and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, to complete by 30 June.

What they said: “Killara has long been a successful and valuable part of Elders’ products and services portfolio,” said Elders managing director and CEO Mark Allison.

“We feel for Killara to continue to grow and develop as a blue chip operation, it is appropriate for it to move to a more natural owner, and we have found this in AMG.

“The sale at this time supports our value creation strategy for Elders’ shareholders.”
