Evolution Mining CFO to step down
The news: Evolution Mining has announced its chief financial officer Barrie Van der Merwe will step down to pursue another opportunity within the industry.
The numbers: Van der Merwe will remain in the role until late-March 2025, while a search to identify an appropriate replacement is underway. He joined Evolution in March 2023.
The context: The gold miner said Van der Merwe’s decision to leave the company was based on a number of factors including personal circumstances in terms of job location.
He played an important role in the company’s financial position, including securing a $600 million refinancing in June 2023, successful debt financing of the Northparkes acquisition in December 2023 and ongoing deleveraging of the balance sheet, it said.
