Evolution Mining shares lift amid CFO transition and gold demand
More news: Shares in Evolution Mining were up 1.67% to $8.82 in afternoon trade after the gold miner announced transition plans for its chief financial officer position and as a rise in spot gold prices lifted miners more broadly.
Vice president of finance for BHP’s minerals Americas business Frances Summerhayes will join Evolution as chief financial officer in early September.
Evolution Mining names BHP exec Frances Summerhayes as new CFO
The news: Evolution Mining has named BHP senior executive Frances Summerhayes as its incoming chief financial officer.
The numbers: The gold miner said Summerhayes would commence her role in early September. She will replace Barrie Van der Merwe, who stepped down in March to join ASX-listed Coronado Global Resources.
The context: Summerhayes has over 20 years of experience in the resources sector, and was most recently the vice president of finance for BHP’s minerals Americas business. She was previously head of finance for BHP’s iron ore business and started her career at PwC.
“Fran brings extensive experience and strong financial acumen and will be a welcome addition to our team,” Evolution Managing Director Lawrie Conway said in a statement.
