Ex-Dentons partner Guy Albeck slims down Fair Work spat against law firm
The news: Former Dentons partner Guy Albeck has revised his claims against the law firm, removing details in his case linked to July 2022 emails sent by his then-boss, Doug Stipanicev, that included an anti-vaccine report and anti-Semitic content.
Albeck's Fair Work case no longer refers to the email content, but still include's bullying allegations against partner and former board member, Kon Tsiakis. The revised document also alleges that an internal search in the law firm was conducted with the object of finding material to permit Dentons to dismiss Albeck and prevent him from making similar complaints.
However, Albeck has removed allegations that the search was done "as part of a systemic pattern of behaviour" related to him.
The context: Dentons announced in September that it had appointed banking and finance partner Amber Warren to the role of Australian chair and Australasian CEO.
Warren's appointment came as the firm faced court action over alleged breaches of the Fair Work Act, with the former heard of the firm's regional branch, Stipanicev, also named in the complaint.
Stipanicev issued his own statement as the allegations came to light last month, saying he regretted not reading the entirety of a 55-page article prior to sharing it with Albeck. Stipanicev said Albeck had requested the article and claims that linked Stipanicev to comments made "by an author I have never met, nor endorsed, are absurd".
The matter is due to go to mediation on 20 December.
