Ex-TPG CFO Grant Dempsey to join a2 Milk’s board

The news: Former TPG Telecom chief financial officer Grant Dempsey will join the board of a2 Milk on 1 September.
The context: Dempsey stepped down from his role at TPG in March 2024 to move into a non-executive career. He has since been appointed chair of audit and risk at metal recycling business Sims and IT services business Megaport.
He is also the chair of the Housing Hub’s board and has been the chair of the board investment committee at IFM Investors since 2018.
Prior to his two years as TPG’s CFO, Dempsey worked in a series of executive investment banking roles including at Citi and JP Morgan. He was also previously CFO at bauxite and alumina mining business Alumina.
What they said: “In taking up my role as chair, board renewal and succession planning has been a key focus,” chair Pip Greenwood said.
“Today’s appointment of Grant and the appointments of Tonet Rivera and Lain Jager as directors in late 2024, reflect our commitment to ensuring the board has the diverse perspectives and capabilities needed to support the company’s strategic ambitions into the future.”
