Flight Centre invests $7m in Blockskye to improve payment tech
The news: Flight Centre has announced a USD5 million ($7 million) strategic investment in Boston-based travel company Blockskye.
The context: The online travel agency said the move aims to provide its corporate travel arm FCM Travel with early access to Blockskye’s blockchain-based payments network, improving transaction processes and delivering real-time financial visibility for clients.
Flight Centre said the investment aligns with the company’s broader strategy to invest in advanced technology, which also includes the development of an AI-enabled platform, Sam, to support customer service and drive automation.
What they said: “This investment provides FCM with access to emerging payment technology that solves some of the corporate card and expense management challenges that corporate travellers typically encounter,” said Flight Centre corporate CEO Chris Galanty.
“Once embedded in our technology suite, it has the potential to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance transparency for our corporate clients.”
