The news: Industrial relations talks will continue between Qantas pilots at subsidiary Network Aviation next week as regional Western Australian flights resumed after a 24-hour pilot strike.
The numbers: Qantas was forced to cancel at least 40 services scheduled for its subsidiary Network Aviation on Wednesday after 200 pilots walked off the job, AAP reports. The Australian Federation of Air Pilots is demanding an at least 50% pay increase for Network pilots, who it says earn less than the industry award. Qantas has offered a 25% pay increase with a further 3% annually moving forward.
The context: Network Aviation runs regional flight services in Western Australia and provides a key service for fly-in-fly-out workers at the state's mining hubs.
