Foxtel commercial and content boss Amanda Laing resigns
The news: Foxtel Group has announced the resignation of Amanda Laing, the company’s chief commercial and content officer.
The context: Laing joined the company in early 2018, just months after Foxtel chief executive Patrick Delany was appointed to the top job, and has been part of the executive team that nudged Foxtel into the streaming age, with the launches of Kayo and Binge, where Laing is also managing director. She will step down in September.
Delany in a statement on Tuesday attributed Laing with playing a key role in the company’s content acquisition deals and securing sports rights. Among the highest profile of them is a deal with HBO for hit shows such as The White Lotus and Succession.
What they said: “Amanda led dozens of negotiations with US studios for content and channel acquisitions, as well as supported the business as a leading executive on our sports rights deals,” Delany said in a statement.
“She has made an outstanding contribution to the growth of subscribers and revenue which the Foxtel Group has seen during her tenure, and I thank her for the commitment and passion she has always brought to her role.”
Laing said: “We are all lucky to work in an industry which values innovation, creativity, intellect and drive".
“Harnessing these to deliver revenue and negotiate innovative deals to drive growth for Foxtel Group and its partners has been my focus and I know the talented teams at the Foxtel Group will continue this work under Patrick’s leadership.”
