Genesis Energy CFO James Spence to join travel group CTM
The news: Genesis Energy's chief financial officer James Spence will leave the company on 24 May, joining ASX-listed Corporate Travel Management (CTM).
The numbers: Having moved to New Zealand from Australia to join Genesis as CFO in March 2022, Spence will return to Australia and commence his new role as CTM's global CFO on 27 May. Spence's appointment at CTM follows a six-month recruitment process, after the departure of former global CFO Cale Bennet in July 2023.
The context: Prior to his spell at Genesis, Spence held CFO roles at Australian energy companies EnergyAustralia, ERM Power and Gentrack, after stints at Centrica and British Gas in the UK. Genesis said it has begun the hiring process to find a new CFO.
What they said: Genesis CEO Malcolm Johns said: "I am grateful to James for his agreement to extend his notice period to ensure continuity throughout the development of the FY25 operating plan. James has played an impactful role within a strong overall executive effort in developing the company’s Gen35 strategy, which was recently communicated to the market".
The Genesis announcement noted that Spence was leaving the company "due to family reasons".
Spence said: "It's been a privilege to work with Malcolm and the Genesis leadership team in developing the Gen35 strategy, which sets the company up to play a key role in the New Zealand energy transition".
