GFG Alliance Group companies ordered to lodge annual reports with ASIC

The news: The Supreme Court of New South Wales has ordered three GFG Alliance Group companies to lodge outstanding annual reports with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, after the regulator took legal action in June.
The context: The order has been issued to Liberty Primary Metals Australia, Tahmoor Coal and Liberty Bell Bay.
Liberty and Tahmoor failed to lodge reports for financial year 2024 and must now do so by 22 August.
Liberty must lodge reports for financial years 2021, 2022 and 2023 with the financial regulator by 3 October, as well as an annual report for financial year 2024 by 31 October.
Each year companies with a financial year ending on 30 June are expected to lodge their annual reports by 31 October.
GFG Alliance’s OneSteel Manufacturing, the operator of the Whyalla Steelworks in South Australia, was placed into external administration in February.
Liberty is reportedly in talks regarding potential government support for its Bell Bay manganese smelter in Tasmania.
