The news: Fund manager GQG Partners reported a 2% growth in funds under management (FUM) in June and recorded monthly net inflows of USD0.7 billion ($1.1 billion), although net flows in the first half of the calendar year are lower than the same period in 2024.

The numbers: FUM increased from USD168.5 billion to USD172.4 billion over the month. As of 30 June 2025, net flows in the year to date were USD8 billion, which is 27.9% less than the USD11.1 billion for the same period in 2024.

Each GQG fund grew in June, with international equity up 2% to USD69.7 billion, global equity up 1.2% to USD41.1 billion, emerging markets equity up 3.7% to USD41.7 billion and US equity funds up 2.6% to USD19.9 billion.

The context: GQG Partners said it is positioning its portfolio defensively amid “valuations, corporate earnings data and macro-economic volatility”, which it said explains the relative underperformance “across all strategies as compared to their respective benchmarks during the quarter”.

What they said: “While Q2 net flows were strong, we also recognise that relative underperformance can be a headwind to future net flows,” GQG’s statement to the exchange said.
