Greatland Resources names ex-Northern Star general manager Nick Strong as COO

The news: Greatland Resources has appointed Nick Strong as its chief operating officer (COO), effective 5 October, to oversee operational activities at Telfer and Havieron.

The context: Strong brings more than 25 years of experience in operational and leadership roles across the mining industry including serving at Northern Star, Rio Tinto and Newcrest Mining. He most recently served as general manager of the Hemi Gold Project and KCGM expansion at Northern Star.

Greatland has also transitioned its current acting COO Otto Richter to chief technical officer, a role he will assume once Strong commences. Richter will be tasked with advancing the company’s growth strategy through strategic mine planning.
