The news: HMC Capital has welcomed the Victorian government’s approval of its Kentbruck Wind Farm project, which aims to deliver new clean energy capacity to meet growing consumer and industrial demand in the coming years.

The context: The alternative asset manager received approval from the Allan Labor government on Tuesday for the wind farm in south-west Victoria.

The approval was granted for the Kentbruck Green Power Hub near Nelson following Victoria’s Environment Effects Statement (EES) process.

The numbers: HMC Capital said the project will include up to 105 turbines and generate about 2,000 gigawatt hours of renewable energy each year, enough to power roughly 380,000 homes.

The company expects the project to create around 350 jobs during construction and 14 ongoing operational roles.

What they said: "HMC is pleased with the announcement and looks forward to working with the relevant Victorian Government authorities and stakeholders on the recommendations in the planning minister's assessment," HMC Energy Transition Platform CEO Gerard Dover said.
