HSBC selects Mistral to accelerate generative-AI rollout
The news: HSBC has partnered with French AI startup Mistral to integrate generative AI tools across the bank in efforts to speed up automation, improve productivity and enhance client services.
The context: HSBC said in a press release on Monday that under the multi-year partnership, the bank and Mistral’s applied AI, science and engineering teams will collaborate on the development of generative AI solutions across the organisation.
The bank said that it will deploy Mistral’s commercial models and future upgrades through self-hosted AI models that operate on HSBC’s internal technology systems.
The companies plan to work together to build AI solutions for tasks ranging from financial analysis and language translation to risk assessments and customised client communication.
Future areas of focus for HSBC will include customer-facing innovations, including improvements to credit and lending processes, enhancing customer onboarding, and fraud and anti-money laundering checks.
