IAG director David Armstrong retires

The news: IAG non-executive director and audit committee chair David Armstrong will retire due to “medical reasons”, effective immediately.

The context: Armstrong joined the board of the insurance provider in September 2021.

He retired as a PwC partner in mid-2014. Between 2014 and 2023, Armstrong was a non-executive director at NAB where he was chair of the audit committee.

He has previously served as chair of the Opera Australia Capital Fund and The George Institute for Global Health.

What they said: “David has brought wisdom, curiosity and intelligence to our board and organisation,” IAG chair Tom Pockett said.

“In particular, we benefitted from his listed company expertise and knowledge of reporting, regulatory and risk challenges faced by the industry. We are very grateful for David’s contribution and character.”
