Iress shares tumble after data breach leads to OneVue access
The news: Shares in Iress have tumbled after the financial services software group said unauthorised access to OneVue's platform was gained in a data breach flagged earlier in the week.
The numbers: Iress shares fell nearly 6% to $7.95 each in early trading on the ASX. Over the past 12 months its shares have fallen 23.07%.
The context: Iress said on Wednesday a stolen credential from its third-party user space GitHub was used to gain access to client data in the production environment of its OneVue platform over the weekend.
Praemium, which acquired OneVue Platform Business from Iress earlier this year, said in an announcement to the ASX that there was currently no indication from Iress that OneVue client data had been compromised. Praemium's shares were down 2.22% in early trading on the ASX.
Iress disclosed the weekend data breach at GitHub earlier in the week, but had said at the time that it does not store any client information on it. The company said on Wednesday simultaneous investigations in its other business segments are being carried out and no other data breach instances have been identified yet.
What they said: "The OneVue production environment contains client data and we are investigating the extent and nature of the data accessed," the Iress said in a filing to the ASX, adding that OneVue's production environment was isolated to the platform's businesses — MFA, Platform and OneVue Super.
