The news: Consumer electronics retailer JB Hi-Fi’s long-time CFO has been appointed to the newly created group chief operations officer role.
The numbers: Nick Wells is an executive director who has been group chief financial officer since 2014. He will be replaced by David Giansalvo, who currently leads the group’s commercial finance function.
The context: JB Hi-Fi said Wells’ new role as COO will provide additional support to assist the growth of the brands, with the group’s further expansion. JB Hi-Fi announced in August it would acquire a majority stake in premium white goods retailer e&s Trading. In 2016, the company acquired appliance chain The Good Guys.
Both Wells and Giansalvo will directly report to CEO Terry Smart.
