Job advertisements rose 3.2% in February: ANZ-Indeed

The news: Australian job advertisements have risen 3.2% month-on-month in February, following a 5.2% uptick in January, according to an ANZ-Indeed report.

The context: The report found that the trend series rose 2.3% for the months of January and February, marking the first back-to-back monthly increase and its highest level since October 2024.

What they said: “This pick‑up in job ads coincides with the unemployment rate holding at 4.1% in January 2026. Though other aspects of the labour market have eased,” ANZ economist Aaron Luk said.

“In February, job ads for nurses rose to its highest level in almost two years, while management opportunities rose to its highest level since September 2023.

“Retail also rose strongly, as did opportunities in administration,” he added.
