Karoon Energy appoints Carri Lockhart as CEO

The news: Oil and gas producer Karoon Energy has appointed Carri Lockhart as its new managing director and chief executive, effective 3 November, as the company continues plans to move its headquarters to Brazil and the US.
The context: Texas-based Lockhart replaces Melbourne-based Julian Fowles who was expected to vacate the role by the end of this year and will now serve a notice period through to mid-2026.
Lockhart has more than 32 years of experience in the oil and gas sector. Her last executive role was as Norwegian energy company Equinor’s executive vice president technology, digital and innovation, which she left in March 2022.
She currently sits on the board of engineering and manufacturing business Innovex, natural gas processing and transport business Williams Companies, and oil and gas business Ascent Resources.
What they said: “As a reservoir engineer, Carri has a deep understanding of the oil and gas industry, with considerable experience in managing large scale production assets safely, reliably and efficiently, and maturing and sanctioning development projects. She has worked successfully across multiple countries in diverse operating environments,” Karoon chair Peter Botten said.
“She also has demonstrated skills in building and leading high performing multi-disciplinary management and operating teams, fostering operational excellence, and developing a strong corporate culture.”
