The news: Financial technology company Link Group has appointed former Macquarie executive Gail Pemberton to its board as a non-executive director. Pemberton has held executive roles at BNP Paribas and was Macquarie's group chief information officer and chief operating officer of its financial services group.

The numbers: Pemberton will begin her role from 8 January 2024. Link shares were trading slightly lower in early trading, buying around $1.50 since rebounding from multi-year lows of around $1.10 in late November.

The context: Link will be looking to turn around its fortunes after its share price bounced strongly last month on improved guidance after a multi-year downtrend. Link's board has been put on notice, after the company received a massive 83% protest vote against executive remuneration at its annual general meeting last month.

What they said: "I am delighted to welcome Gail and I believe she will make a great contribution to the Board. Gail’s knowledge of Australia’s technology and financial services sector will enhance our board greatly," Link Group Chairman Michael Carapiet said in a statement.
